What is Armstrong?

Armstrong is a beat ’em up game designed for mobile devices.

You play as Armstrong, a ruthless alien with a bizarre mutation: a gigantic hand that protrudes from his abdomen. You use your mutation to sow chaos and destruction and ultimately conquer the entire planet.

Control scheme

This game is designed for mobile phones and tablets and takes full advantage of these devices touchscreen displays.

The giant hand of the protagonist mimics the movements done by the player’s fingers on the surface of the screen. Mapping the motions of the character to logical control locations helps immerse the player into the game world and creates a deep connection between the player and the character.

Color-coded enemies

Blue monsters

They are indestructible, yet very cowardly. The player can scare them away and force them to move to specific locations of the map. The player can also knock them out and move them manually in order to create pathways (e.g., stairs, bridges, etc.)

Red monsters

They spit powerful fireballs at the player but they are fragile and highly explosive creatures. The player can throw them against walls to create major explosions.

Obstacle course

Each section of the level has an obstacle that requires a special platforming maneuver. Every obstacle encourages the player to find new ways to use the game mechanics.

Obstacle #1

The first obstacle the player meets is a river. If the player attempts to cross it, he will drown. He must stomp the ground to make the blue monsters perched in the nearby tree fall in the water. He can then cross the river by walking on top of their heads.
Obstacle #2

The second obstacle the player comes across is a wall. The player must first slap the nearby blue monsters and knock them out. He can afterwards grab them and move them around in order to build a stairway to climb over the wall.
Obstacle #3

The third obstacle is another wall. The player must stomp the ground to make the red monsters perched on top of the wall fall down. The player can then grab a red monster and throw it against the wall to blow it up into pieces.
